Jewish Vocational Services Holds Annual Spring Gala 

The 5th Annual JVS Spring Gala: Creating Pathways to Success was held on April 28, 2009 at the InterContinental Hotel, Boston. Master of Ceremonies, Boston City Council President Michael Ross led the program as JVS recognized its outstanding corporate partner, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and its CEO and President, Paul Levy; two exceptional JVS clients who have overcome considerable obstacles in order to achieve great success- Jacques Kitembo and Beatriz Alvarez shared their stories; and George Russell, Jr., of State Street Foundation, Inc. was the first recipient of the “Community Innovator” award for the paradigm-changing work he has enabled in the area of college transitions. Two hundred people attended the event that net over $100,000.

Founded in 1938, JVS is a non-sectarian organization that helps businesses hire, train, retain and promote their employees, and helps individuals get the education, skills, and jobs they need to succeed in our community.
