-Ken Seide
December 23, 2010
I saw my ex-wife on JDate
posing in front of her house
where we used to live,
the one I grew up in,
the one my father died in.
Gone is the slate-blue paint
the same color as my father’s eyes,
my mother’s favorite color,
which drew her to my father.
She said, My love for that color
led to your birth.
The house is white now, a cleaner slate.
Ken Seide (a pen name) lives in Newton, Mass. His poems and short stories have appeared in and on New Vilna Review, Midstream, Poetica, Scribblers on the Roof, and Ibbetson Street.
