Jacob lay down
On the massage table
For his weekly kneading-
Flexing with assistance
His damaged hip.
The knee
Yawed to the motions
Creating
A stubborn rudder
In his hip.
Eyes closed, wiggling toes
Could not distract the inflicted
Pocket.
Jacob limped bone on bone
Marrowless to those around him.
The wound was once the story.
His family now massed in the desert
To greet his hairy brother.
A massage therapist
Can only undo
That which is bound-
Soon his concentration
Would knead upon Jacob’s thoughts.
