-Ken Seide

After a young man
in purple sneakers
with yellow laces,
and, for some reason,
no tallit,
was called to hold the Torah,
his father rushed after him
and taking off his tallit,
draped the shoulders
of Noach’s seed,
then glowed with inner light,
and I thanked God
for making the waters
recede
and letting the world start
anew,
which, I knew then
with perfect faith,
was not a mistake.
Ken Seide lives in Newton, MA. His poetry has appeared in New Vilna Review, Poetica, Midstream, Scribblers on the Roof, and Ibbetson Street. Poetica has published one of his short stories and has accepted another one for publication.
