-Michal Mahgerefteh
Way past midnight,
the mesh of my dreams
wanders in a procession
of scenes from my short
history, gulping the ghosts
in agonizing slowness.
The echo of my birth-cry
swells, and I’m forced to
wear the mourner’s cloth.
(God, let it be woven by
the finest thread of memory)
Patiently I’m waiting, and
in the waiting unforeseen guidance
reclaiming the self in its own time.
